Baroque Architecture in Mantua
Tedioli law firm is located in the heart of the old town of Mantova.
Mantova is a medieval city in Lombardy (region of the Northern Italy) and the capital of the province of the same name.
Since November 2000, our offices have moved to a new location in Via Pietro Frattini, 7, occupying the entire ground floor of the north wing, in the entrance courtyard of Palazzo Valenti Gonzaga.
Palazzo Valenti Gonzaga is one of the most important examples of Baroque architecture and decoration in Mantua.
The imposing façade, attributed to Nicolò Sebregondi and realised in the first half of the 1600’s, develops in four floors and rises above a base covered with marble worked into diamond tips.
The Splendours of the Past
The decorative composition of the courtyard, attributed to the Flemish architect Francesco Geffels, is also of particular quality.
Restoration work began in 1981 and was completed in 2001, returning this monumental building to its former splendour.
A prominent member of the family was Cardinal Silvio Valenti Gonzaga (1690-1756).
He served as papal nuncio to Flanders and was raised to the rank of cardinal by Pope Clement XII.
He owned a large collection of paintings (including the portrait of Lorenzo Cybo) and canvases by Salvator Rosa and Francesco Solimena.
